OMG Just had opened the living room door, when hit by the pungent odour of strong cigarette fumes - once again. The strangest thing is that I've now realised where the smell of cigarettes comes from....
Its around the area of the smoke alarm in the hallway - which is active.
Would you believe it!!!
I find this rather weird - as I DON'T SMOKE! AND NONE OF MY VISITORS SMOKE! Although I don't like cigarette smoke, I find this rather comforting cause I KNOW IT'S HIM! ; as ROBERT ALWAYS HAD A CIGARETTE DANGLING OUT OF HIS MOUTH!!! I've only been aware of this cigarette smoke smell, since I'd started writing and working on this song
''SO CLOSE''. Now I know he always will be.

“So Close”
"SEDUCED, AND STOLE MY LOVE FROM ME..."
The loss my brother Robert left a huge void in my heart and life, when he passed away on the morning of 31st December 2011 . I Now feel it's the right time to release a single (In His Memory) which I had wanted to record and sing -Actually shout aloud to the world- how I'd learnt of Robert's suspicious and untimely death. (Through my music can only hint at some of the facts, without me being sued) I was (and still am to this day) discouraged to talk about him or even mention my late brother Robert's name. Well I am! I'm Immortalising His Memory (as I can No Longer be kept silenced) -through this song. In this single called ''SO CLOSE'' which will live on, even after I've passed on.
I don't even know where his ashes are? or even if they've ever been scattered? So Have Lost any trust I ever had with my birth family. In fact I mentioned I was always a curious child- referring to learning about the world we live in. This was totally misunderstood in a recent phone call, made by one of my close family members. They responded by saying ( and I quote)... ''Robert was like that, and look where it got him. What was that supposed to mean ???? Has now got me even more curious about his sudden death!
"ALTHOUGH, WE'RE NOT TOGETHER
YET! - I'VE SEEN YOU IN A DREAM..."
YET! - I'VE SEEN YOU IN A DREAM..."
Those painful feelings I've had, I had to express through music – which Robert loved – though none of Robert's own family were even allowed to suggest any of his favourite music to be played at his funeral – often wondered why that was? I never was even informed or learned he was to be cremated, until the day of his funeral. Now that was a real shock!!!!
Although this started as an Sad and Emotional Contemporary Ballad, which was very upsetting to write I know now he is really happy for once; and awaits the day when we'll be together again. Until then I only have him, in Spirit.
A Clairvoyant friend I went to visit mentioned a bright yellow rose he wanted me to have – she didn't even know that a Yellow Rose was and still is my, and my late Granny's favourite flower; and I've always grew at least one yellow rose shrub. The Lyrics of the chorus of my song are totally true, as although am an evidenced based person, I've seen my late brother Robert, not only in a dream but in bodily form, several times since he passed on and So has a Visitor to my home-and they didn't even know I'd seen him 3 times previously.
So the message I hope my song-brings comfort to not only myself, But To Those Who Have Lost A Loved One. Their loved one's Spirit never really leaves us; even though we can't always see them, we may still feel their presence. Even when working on a new song, on my Keyboard I can often feel Robert's presence with me; as I ''was told'' we're ''closer now than we've ever been'' when doing what he loved to do making music too. Robert's Spirit has, I believe, greatly inspired my lyrics and music- as a gifted and talented musician, he has always encouraged me. SO THIS IS MY TRIBUTE TO HIM. Love you always - bro xxx
"SO CLOSE, SO CLOSE"
Initially the song is only available to download @ https://www.oronjo.com/p/3q6pqauqx53a7he5X but will be available on itunes etc within the next few weeks

In the Mournes
Here's another true story from the archives , that's come to mind when seeing that Irish cottage I posted up on FB last night.
It reminded me of the time when we (as a family) went camping - up in the Mourne Mountains in Co Down.
We weren't very old, so my granny came with us.
Dad got the loan of a large van and had a two man tent. Of course our parents got the tent, whilst poor granny! had to share a mattress in the back of the van, with all us 4 kids.
We had a great time, but thinking back now, it must have been a nightmare for granny- who must have found it difficult getting any sleep with the noise of us all. BUT SHE NEVER COMPLAINED!
I'm not sure how long we were camping for, though must have been been about week, during a warm spell. Up the Mournes away from civilization ,and the city, it was GREAT! We thought It was brilliant having all this freedom, so us kids brought our bikes! Robert and I hung out together we were like two peas in a pod. We caught butterflies in our butterfly nets and put them in a jar; but of course we let them go, go when we finished our game of WHO CAUGHT THE MOST.
Apart from sharing the love of music, we shared a real love of all animals - big and small- including insects.
We camped beside an old stone cottage - a bit like the one in the picture, though this one was badly need of repair, but a great place to explore. (That was Mine and Robert's inquisitive natures lol)
The old stone Cottage was full of rubble, dirt and dust; but amongst all that dirt, Robert found an old Gas Mask from the war! And boy we had fun with that - mind you I don't know were it disappeared to? Such a shame as it would have now been a REAL Collectable.
One morning we woke up hearing bleating noises, peered out the door of the van, and saw to our surprise a herd of sheep and lambs around the tent. But what was really funny, was hearing from mum and dad about them waking to the sight and sound of a couple of sheep nosing in the doorway of the tent, to see who was there (OR WHAT WAS GOING ON LOL ;) hahahaha!)

A PRICELESS GIFT FROM ROBERT
As children, everywhere we went- we sang. Even in the public baths in Belfast we had to use at times. All private baths lol - mind you other bathers said '' it was a real treat to hear children singing in there as the voices carried'' - though looking back, feel really embarrassed about it. Mind you it had Great Acoustics! LOL
..........................................................................................
One time Robert while walking past another child on a swing in the park, got such a Wallop from the girls shoes, split his chin open.
By now your probably wondering whats that got to do with singing??? Well the story goes Robert was rushed to the Hospital, where they tried to sedate him to stitch up his chin; but as usual, Robert- like me nowadays -who was that stubborn and determined the Hospital staff couldn't even knock him out hahahaha! But apparently the medical staff told my mum they had to stitch him up anyway. They told her that her son was a great wee singer, and he sang the whole time as they stitched up the nasty gash on his jaw! They had never seen this before. AIN'T THAT AMAZIN??? But thats the sort of kid my brother was.
.................................................................................
When out traveling in the car Robert, myself and the rest of the family used to sing everywhere we went ; especially the old favorites, one of them was an oldie by DORIS DAY -'' The Black Hills Of Dakota''
We all sang the melodies whilst Robert would sing the harmonies, (as he was the only one, who could do that).
As a child I was the one who always suffered from sore throats, yet Robert was the one who had to get his tonsils out. The bonus was he got loads of ice cream for the next 3 weeks - I thought he was so lucky! However from that time, he never sang again - but the strangest thing was HE PAST HIS WONDERFUL GIFT TO ME, OF HARMONIES. I WILL ALWAYS BE THANKFUL TO ROBERT FOR THAT.

''SLEEP WALKING''
Here's another story Robert and I shared. And honest this is weird, but true.
As kids, Robert and I both went and had a sleep over at our Granny's house one night.
Well like several of my fb friends, Granny was more like my Mummy (as I spent so much time in her home).
Granny made brilliant dinners! (she worked as a cook in a local Hospital, amongst many things) - all real home cooked meals. Even thinking about her meals makes me salivate. lol
Can still smell her steak and kidney pie, Shepard's pie, Homemade broth with dumplings- which Robert and I would fight over lol. Granny made us real home made custard, creamed rice puddings- (cooked in the oven) semolina and tapioca desserts.
Granny's sponge puddings, covered and simmered over an old mains gas stove, where absolutely scrumptious!
She made Jams, Slims (kind of flat fruit scone cooked on her griddle -which I still possess) and Robert REALLY loved his food, and loved going to Granny's house as he loved her Apple Tarts, scones and soda farls. In fact I would go so far as to say ROBERT LOVED ALL GRANNY'S MEALS lol
Well this one particular night after supper we headed off to bed in our PJ's
Tucked snuggily into a double bed in the back bedroom.
Now after falling asleep I remember nothing more until the following day - waking up on the settee with several blankets wrapped around me wondering ''WHY WAS I HERE AND NOT IN BED''????
.
Discovered later from my parents that Granny heard a noise that woke her up, and found both Robert and I had decided to sleep walk, ON THE VERY SAME NIGHT!! lol! I sleepwalked down the stairs and just lay down on the settee. However Robert had other plans! He was found banging the front door - trying to get out.
No wonder Granny told my parents she would never let us both stay over again,on the same night.
Think we scared the life outa her

SAVED MY LIFE-AND NOT JUST THE ONCE!
These are true stories:
When I was a child living in the city (at that time) playing in a large play park; Robert and I were allowed to go playing by ourselves. Dad was out working, Mum was with the other 2 kids at home.
Robert and I were having a ball because it was near tea time, and the park appeared empty.
Robert went off to play on the swings while I went to check out the roundabout.
We often had wonderful times playing on the seesaw, the swings, even the witches hat - now that was fun! Clambering up to the top as it spun around and moved up and down. COOL!
This particular evening WE WERE NOT ALONE!
Whilst we were playing separately in the huge play park - a bigger boy appeared from out of no where and sexually assaulted me. Thank God I've powerful lungs, for I screamed that hard, my brother heard my screams and ran like hell to get help.
The guy (who exposed himself) and attacked me, ran off with fright when he saw Robert running out of the gate for help.
Luckily enough we lived close to the park, Robert, my Dad and Mum rushed to find me in floods of tears, sitting on the ground, JUST BADLY SHAKEN.
Dad was outraged and sought to find out who and where he lived. But since I'd never seen him before couldn't help.
Shortly after that incident, my family rented a holiday home in the countryside, from 2 retired brothers Sandy (the nice one) and Geordie (the dark and creepier one).
Our rented house was the first cottage in a row of 4 (in which the two brothers lived together in the end cottage).
I was playing out in the front garden and Robert was down playing nearer the cottage. He was just heading in the door way of our home - when suddenly Geordie raced out of the house, and thinking no one else was about grabbed me around the waist kicking and screaming,, threw me over his shoulder and tried to get me into his home.
Robert again heard my screams, raced to get our parents, who where working out the back.
In what seemed like a few minutes Robert, and both our parents came out the front door. They caught this pervert on, trying to force me through his doorway.
Suddenly Geordie froze in his tracks! Parents just stood and looked in horror at this Pedophile (cause that's all you could have called him) and said nothing, as he lowered me back down to the ground. THE BIG MACHO PROTECTIVE FATHER - DIDN'T EVEN STAND UP FOR ME! Robert and I were so let down- as a Normal father would have defended his child.
All that my parents did was give in there notice to quit the holiday home.
WHERE WE HAD A TERRIFIC PLACE TO PLAY OUT OF THE CITY !
SO I OWE ROBERT SO MUCH, THAT'S WHY WE LOOKED OUT FOR EACH OTHER
THANK YOU ROBERT!
